Imports of processed foods grew at an average annual rate of 7.1%, from RM3.5 billion in 1996 to RM6.4 billion in 2005. Main sources of imports in 2005 were Australia, valued at RM1.3 billion or 20.8%, of the total imports of processed foods, Thailand (RM879.1 million, 13.8%) and USA (RM482.8 million, 7.6%).
